Germany are using Gotze on the wing to trick, as Gotze is running to the box instead of the touchline. This allows Howedes to operate from the wing as Kroos plays balls from the left-central area. Ozil and Schweinsteiger are making plays all over the park, and Lahm assists the defence in the anchor role. Shkodran Mustafi is getting up to cover for Ozil, but he is able to use his defensive duties.

Algeria has put Feghouli up top with Slimani in reality, and Ghoulam is breaking out. The rest of the team is focused on defence, with Taider inching forward. This is a great tactic as a false 4-2-3-1, and that is why Feghouli started in centre attacking midfield.

The 2nd half started.

The ball fell loose in the penalty area, and Schurrle got to it first. His shot deflected and just went out for a corner in the 48th. The corner was taken quickly, and Schurrle had a cross, but M’Bolhi saved Mustafi’s header.

Algeria had a corner, everyone was back, and Neuer fumbled the ball, quickly reclaiming it. He dropkicked far, to Schurrle, who had a breakaway, but the Algerian defence cleared for a corner. The corner didn’t create much.

Schweinsteiger made a questionable tackle. He isn’t carded in the 50th.

LAHM! He got a shot from just outside the box, but M’Bolhi hit it out after stretching. The corner didn’t work, but the shot was top corner material.

Schurrle drove from far in the 60th, but his shot went well over.

Schurrle crossed in the 61st, but it deflected out for a corner. The corner won another corner.

Slimani called for a cross, but Boateng stretched to clear the great ball by Ghoulam in the 65th.

Halliche gave another bad challenge. He wasn’t shown a second yellow, but he was cautioned by the ref in the 66th.

Shkodran Mustafi was injured in the 69th. Sami Khedira is coming on, and Lahm will switch to right back shortly. The substitution is made.

The Germans may have looked weak, but they have done a fantastic job of shutting the Algerian counter attack as the 70th minute approaches. Neuer has been busy as a sweeper keeper, coming out at least 10 times to help out.

Muller was given a free kick in the 72nd after he was challenged. It didn’t turn to anything.
