Half Time: Germany 5-0 Brazil; Goals, Kroos (2), Muller, Klose, Khedira
Half Time Report:
What a half! The game was over by the 30th minute. I named Toni Kroos as the best midfielder in the World Cup so far, alongside Wesley Sneijder and Javier Mascherano, and I am not doubting my decision. The guy had 2 goals, and an assist in 1 half! He could win the golden ball! Miroslav Klose was not great, but he became the highest World Cup scorer of all time in the match. As for Thomas Muller, he got right back into the Golden Boot and Ball races, after slipping. Who would’ve predicted this?
On the Brazilian side, Paulinho came off for Fernandinho at the half, as well as Hulk, who came off for Ramires.
As for Germany, Mertesacker came on for Hummels. They must’ve decided to save the fantastic defender for the final.
Brazil was trying to win penalties early in the 2nd half. Oscar and Fred ran into German players and fell in the 47th and 48th minutes.
BRAZIL! Fred played to Ramires, who got a 1 touch cross in, but Neuer cleared. Germany was calm at this time.
WHAT A SHOT! Ramires got an open shot, but Neuer saved it! Neuer was doing a job!
Bernard won a corner after Muller rushed back to clear when Bernard beat Lahm. It was cleared by a Neuer fist.
PAULINHO! He got 2 shots on Neuer, but he saved them both! Brazil won a corner on the 53rd, and kept possession with it.
The game was all Brazil in the early stages of the 2nd half.
Neuer came out of his net, and was taken down by Ramires.
Germany stopped the game for a substitution, as Schurrle came on for “The Highest World Cup Scorer of All Time”, Miroslav Klose. He will love that one in the future.
Fred got a drive, but he passed it into the Neuer.
Muller had a breakaway, but Julio Cesar cleared it in the 60th. He would’ve destroyed James Rodriguez if he put that one in.
MULLER! He got a shot, but Julio Cesar tipped it over for a corner. Germany retained possession.
Maicon went down in the box, but no penalty was given. Instead, Brazil won the corner that they earned before.
Fred was booed by the Brazilian fans in the 66th.
Paulinho attempted a bicycle kick, but it was wide BEFORE the ref called offside in the 67th.
Dante was shown yellow in the 68th.
Germany got a 6th! SCHURRLE! Germany 6-0 Brazil
The dismal Fred came off for Willian.
The CBC broadcast showed a montage of sad Brazilians in the 72nd. That’s how sad this occasion was.
The Germans were pinging the ball around through the 75th minute. Bernard and Julio Cesar were the only Brazilians playing.
Julian Draxler came on in the 76th for Sami Khedira.
David Luiz and Muller were clearly unhappy with each other in the 77th.
GOAL! SCHURRLE PUT IN THE 7th! Germany 7-0 Brazil, that one was a great finish!
Marcelo took a drive in the 80th, but he was way wide.
Ramires took a drive, but he couldn’t beat Neuer in the 85th.
Bernard has a drive in the 89th, but it was 2 nets high. Seriously, how did he kick it so high from so close!
Brazil scored! Oscar scored! Finally! Brazil 1-7 Germany, Neuer was furious!
Full Time: Germany 7-1 Brazil; Goals, Klose, Muller, Kroos (2), Schurrle (2), Khedira; MOTM Kroos FIFA is down so WhoScored MOTM is listed.
Manuel Neuer- He was absolutely furious when he was beaten at the end. 8.5
Philipp Lahm- It was not one of his best defensive performances, but he picked up 2 assists. 8
Benedikt Howedes- He was brilliant from the left flank, especially for a centre back. Sabella will not want to play Messi on either flank and Van Gaal won’t want to play Robben on either flank if either meets Germany. 8.5
Sami Khedira- I also said Khedira was one of the best around so far, and I think I have my choice justified for him and Kroos today. 8.5
Bastian Schweinsteiger- He played so well at both ends of the pitch, and he certainly isn’t the weak link in the midfield, even though I have been praising Khedira and Kroos so much. 8.5
Toni Kroos- If anyone doubted me about my decision of him being the best midfielder in the World Cup, I could now make an argument about him being the best in the World. 9.5
Thomas Muller- He is so close to James Rodriguez. 8.5
Mesut Ozil- He is nowhere near his best, but Ozil’s worst is still world class. The reason he underperforms at Arsenal is no people around him after Walcott and Ramsey got injured. 8
Andre Schurrle- He put in 2 goals as a substitute, even though that doesn’t say much in this particular match. I give him extra points for that goal. 9
Miroslav Klose- He is here because he broke the record for all time scorer. he was quite poor today in all honesty. 7
Tomorrow, the 2nd finalist is decided when Netherlands and Argentina meet at the same time tomorrow.
