Daley Blind has had a World Cup with 1 goal and 3 assists, a tally that in total equals Arjen Robben, Robin Van Persie, and only lies 1 behind Lionel Messi.

OSCAR! He got a drive in the 21st but Cillessen saved it.

Oscar won a free kick on the right side of the box after Martins Indi challenged Oscar. Luiz headed wide.

Robben won a free kick in the 32nd, but after a set of some good passing, Van Persie curled into Cesar.

Van Persie took a volley drive in the 41st, but the on target strike was saved by Cesar. Netherlands looks primed to put in a 3rd, strange considering that Louis Van Gaal said that this type of match shouldn’t even exist.

Half Time: Netherlands 2-0 Brazil; Goals, Van Persie, Blind

Half Time Report:

Brazil was absolutely poor and looked like a shadow of the football savvy nation that many football fans and pundits fell in love with. They have the worst defence in the entire tournament by goals conceded now, and Netherlands has been amazing. They look more like a rough and tough Premier League side such as Fulham than Brazil when you remove the passionate fans. Netherlands’s centre backs have attacked with more penetration than Willian and Ramires.

Luiz Gustavo came off for Paulinho in the half.

Brazil had a corner and Netherlands countered it. Robben and Blind did well, but Maxwell did well to close Brazil’s open net so Wijnaldum couldn’t get an angle.

Fernandinho was shown yellow in the 54th for an absolutely malicious challenge on Van Persie, who had a tough time getting up. Based on his injury history, he had Manchester United fans on the edge there!

Hernanes came on for Paulinho in the 57th. Scolari replaced his entire midfield except for Oscar, and we all know why.

Hernanes studded Robben in the 58th, which made for his 2nd foul in 2 minutes.

Ramires had an open shot in the 59th, but he was so far off!

Maicon won a free kick just outside the box in the 62nd minute. David Luiz drove into Cillessen’s hands.

Oscar went down in the box and the ref blew the whistle! That WAS a penalty! Oscar was shown yellow! Oscar got a yellow card! Blind got injured in the challenge!

Blind came off for Daryl Janmaat in 70th minute.

Hulk came on for Ramires in the 73rd.

Robben won a free kick in the 77th.

Oscar won a corner in the 79th, but it just didn’t work.

Willian won a free kick in the 85th. Hulk stood behind it. His cross was cleared.

Netherlands had a corner in the 86th, but Kuyt was just wide.

Ron Vlaar came off in the 90th.

3-0! WIJNALDUM! YES HE DID! JANMAAT CROSSED IT IN FOR WIJNALDUM TO SLIDE INTO THE BOTTOM CORNER! Netherlands 3-0 Brazil

Van Gaal brought Michel Vorm on for Jasper Cillessen, probably just so all his players got a spell on the field, and to waste time.

Full Time: Netherlands 3-0 Brazil; Goals, Wijnaldum, Blind, Van Persie; MOTM, Robben

Player Grades:

Stefan De Vrij and Ron Vlaar- When you put up a better defensive performance than David Luiz and Thiago Silva, you have done well. 7.5

Daley Blind- He scored a goal to finish the tournament with 4 goals for which he was responsible (1 less than Messi), and a 2 clean sheets as a centre back. 8.5

Dirk Kuyt- At 34, he looks like a consistent wingback and it proved to be a brilliant switch by Van Gaal. He played in midfield too, but he is better for the headlines as a wingback. 8

Jonathan De Guzman- He made Canada proud today with a performance to remember, in which he set up a goal. 7

Georginio Wijnaldum- He made a great centre midfielder, considering he prefers attacking areas. Could it be worth a permanent switch? 8.5

Robin Van Persie- He finished with a respectable 4 goals. 7

Arjen Robben- He dove a lot, but made the best possible claim for the Golden Ball considering he was marked out today. 8.5
